Reggie Shave played hockey for the Moose Jaw Canucks, the Winnipeg Black Hawks, and the Brandon Wheat Kings before enrolling at Michigan.  He played left defense from 1950-1951 to 1952-1953 for Michigan, under Coach Vic Heyliger.  During his playing career, Michigan won sixty-one games, lost fifteen, and tied one, outscoring opponents 512 to 241.  He played on three consecutive NCAA Championship teams.

Not known for his scoring proficiency, he remembers scoring a hat trick against Michigan State.  His most memorable experiences at Michigan were twice being selected to the NCAA All-American Team in 1951-1952 and 1952-1953.  Reg Shave graduated from the School of Business Administration.
